The BVU-870 offers excellent video and audio performance by the adoption of Superior Performance (SP) circuits, Dolby C noise reduction, a redesigned audio head block, Dynamic Tracking to provide broadcast quality pictures from -1 to +3 times normal speed.

Many of the above advantages can only be gained when recording and playing back in SP mode using Sony's KSP series tapes. Provision is also made for conventional cassettes.
